When You Realize Wellness Isn’t a Destination
🌸 The Awakening

For years, I thought wellness was something I had to chase — a finish line I kept chasing
— measured in pounds, miles, and the image looking back at me in the mirror.🪞
Every morning began with judgment, not joy.
I’d step on the scale and measure the day before it even began — good or bad, up or down, on track or behind.
Every choice became a calculation; every walk, a task; every meal, a test.
🌱 The Whisper
Something began to whisper in the quiet moments —
during the stillness of an early morning stretch,
a slow walk,
a breeze brushing my face on a run around the lake.
I remember pausing midway through a hike at Folsom Dam, the sun bouncing off of the water, scattering light like quiet applause across the ripples.
I’d been so focused on my pace —how fast I was moving, how far I’d gone —
that I hadn’t noticed the river’s rhythm, the song of the birds, the peace of the morning.
In that stillness, I realized:
🌟 I wasn’t truly there. I was chasing the goal, not living the experience.
Then I heard it — the quiet voice I’d ignored for too long:
💬 “You don’t need to arrive. You’re already home — whole, complete.”
That was the awakening.
🌼 The Shift
Wellness isn’t a destination.
It’s a relationship — with your body, your breath, your life.
It’s the way you listen when your body says “rest.”
The way you savor sunlight on your skin.
The way you choose food that nourishes, not punishes.
The joy of movement — not the measurement of it.
The peace that comes when you stop striving and start being.
Now, I no longer step on the scale each morning.
Instead, I step into awareness.
I ask myself:
💭 How do I feel?
💭 What do I need?
💭 How can I honor my body today?
🩵 My Wellness Wins Now Look Like:
🥗 Eating foods that make me feel alive and energized.
🚶🏾♀️ Moving because it feels good — not to “earn” anything.
😴 Sleeping deeply and rising rested.
💧 Drinking water as an act of love.
🌳 Pausing in nature to breathe and simply be.
🧭 Awareness is my compass. It reminds me I am already whole —not because I’ve reached a goal, but because I exist —in this breath, in this body, in this moment, as I am.
Wellness is no longer a race;
it’s a rhythm.
A homecoming.
A return to myself.
